Question Cloning of SanDisk NVMe M.2 SSD to a like drive using a SABRENT EC-SSD2 with offline cloning Question high storage hard drive makes wild noises Whatever is most important to you, that would be the way to go. I also have my i5 OC to 4300 and my GTX 970 OC as well. If my FPS were in the 20-30 range, then I would consider it as that extra FPS is nice. With that high of FPS, I would not want to put it on my SSD, nor buy a big SSD to put more games on. Playing Dying Light at max settings running a MSI GTX 970 I get 55-60FPS. My games are installed on my 2TB drive and run great. If I were you, I would not spend so much on a SSD (unless you get a far better experience with games, like 20+ FPS increase) and put that money towards a high capacity, high RPM HDD. I decided to get a smaller SSD to put more money towards RAM and bigger HDD, since I would be having game clips and things like that. Games load very quickly being installed on my HDD. So as of right now, I have my OS and apps (not including game installs) on my SSD. I think for me, at least, having so many games installed an a SSD would fill it up rather quickly.

I decided to get a 128GB SSD (Crucial), 16GB RAM, 2TB internal HDD 7200RPM. I just built my PC for gaming about a month ago. I do have 2 monitors and prefer to have a ton of communication apps, chrome tabs, and a game running, thus RAM makes sense but a faster SSD could also aid in my read/write bottlenecking. I also leave my PC powered up for days so quick boot speeds are not the biggest concern. The Intel Rapid Storage looks like the simplest method as I would prefer to have one partition and rapid click through installs.

I then began to question which direction to head, SSD or more RAM?Īs I researched SSD's I got confused with lack of details on best setups. After tons of searching I disabled a couple windows background things (super search IIRC) which made things slightly better. I began having issues with Battlefield 4 write/read to my HDD causing the program to crash, despite my 8GB memory. Oh and don't forget about how and where VRAM comes into play.

(Or I can buy that and upgrade my laptop to 250 and use the 120GB for my desktop in question. I am looking at $200 price range which can buy upto a 500GB Samsung 850EVO, but it could buy a stick of 8GB Ram and a 250GB SSD. If I buy a SSD do I use it for boot drive + games, or do I use intel rapid storage, or use rapid storage partitioned with remainder of space used for booting?
